Created by Shun Yuan, the second generation, this is a masterpiece of Shun Yuan that uses a technique called ``openwork'', in which bamboo is carved into green mud.
Shunen is currently in his second generation and handles all of the teapot production himself, including using the potter's wheel and carving. We create unique teapots with elaborate decorations and shapes that cannot be imitated by others, and have gained popularity.
Shunyuan uses three different types of clay: vermilion mud, black mud, and green mud, giving each piece individuality.
In Tokoname ware before Shunen, the molding work using a potter's wheel and the carving work were divided into separate labors, but Shunen was strongly influenced by Kazuto Ushijima and began decorating teapots with three-dimensional carving work that had not been seen before in Tokoname ware. This was because he was pursuing a new style following his father, the first generation Shun Yuan. Seeking even greater heights, Shunen challenges the technique of ``watermarking''. By making a hole in the body of the teapot and pasting different types of clay together from the back side, it is possible to create a three-dimensional structure that cannot be achieved with normal carving.
