The lion danceIt is a traditional performing art that can be seen all over Japan, in which the head of a lion (animal) is danced with a kajishi-patterned body curtain. The lion dance began to be performed to ward off evil spirits such as hunger and disease, and by biting someone's head off, it meant eating away evil spirits. ``Bite'' = ``God bites'', which means good luck and has the meaning of warding off misfortune, bountiful harvests, and safety for the family.
